The Chair

I must share this story because it was clearer than day to me that God was telling me to relax the other day.

Let's back up. A few weeks ago Micah and I, coincidentally, checked out this resale shop down the street called A Second Thought that happened to be a Christian store. It's a great little shop with many wonderful little treasures. We picked up some books and were checking out when I saw this chair that would be perfect in our living room (and for my taste!). Unfortunately, it had a sold sticker on it. I kept thinking on the way out that it would have been perfect because we still haven't bought all of the furniture we need and we only have a couch in our living room. A chair would have fit the bill, oh well!

Well, we go in the other day, moseying on up and I'll be darned! The chair was sitting outside ready to be bought. Now this day was not so super to begin with. I was a little stressed about finances, especially since we're going on a trip this coming weekend and both my husband and I were a little exhausted from thinking about money. This is where I know God had a hand in my afternoon. The moment I saw that chair I didn't hesitate for a moment with thoughts of, "no you can't afford that" or "you could put the money somewhere more useful". It was as if He was saying, "You don't need to worry about things like money. I will take care of you always. There is no need for worry because you can always trust me." I'm not saying that he put the chair there as if it were meant for me and only me and that God wanted me to buy that chair. That was not what I got at all from seeing it there. That feeling of knowing we could buy it just went to show that money is not really an issue and we are alright and here is this chair for $15 that would hardly break the bank for us. I knew in that moment my worrying was senseless and after we packed the chair into the trunk I truly had a feeling of weightlessness. He just filled me with trust in Him.
